Are dives included in the price of the trip?

Yes, there are 4 days of 2-tank boat dives included in the price of the trip. We have arranged private morning boats for Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Can we add more dives later if we want to dive more and what is the cost?

Yes, you can add additional dives as available on the trip for $63 per dive.

Is Nitrox available on the boats and how much does it cost? Is there a discount for the week?

Nitrox will be available on every boat. It is $12 per dive.

Do I need to be Nitrox certified before the trip in order to dive Nitrox on the boat?

Yes, please make sure that you have been Nitrox certified before the beginning of the trip. If you are not currently certified, please arrange to be certified through Malibu Divers. We provide an online Nitrox course that you can do in 4 to 6 hours and finish with an in-store review. We highly recommend getting Nitrox certified to be able to safely extend your bottom time significantly.

What do I do with my gear while I am at the resort?

The on-site dive shop will have a storage area for you where you can rinse and store your gear.

Is rental gear available on site? How much is it?

Yes, rental gear is available on site. The price depends on what pieces of gear you require. We highly recommend owning your own gear and bringing it with you. Owning your own gear means you know it will work, how it works and will fit you well. If you purchase new gear, we recommend that you have dived with it before even in the pool before using it on vacation. Cylinders and weights of course should not be brought with you.

Are weights available at the dive shop?

Yes, weights are available for use through the dive shop. Please make sure that you know how much weight you will need depending on your dive skin or wetsuit.

Do we need wetsuits? Any diving gear we need to bring?

No wetsuit is required, but we always recommend some kind of barrier between you and the ocean. It could be a shorty or 3 mm wetsuit or a skin. It will depend on your own personal preference and how cold you might get even in warm water. You may want to pack more than one choice for different activities or to allow it to dry between days. We recommend that you bring your snorkel package and any other SCUBA and other gear you own such as lights for night diving. They do have SCUBA gear at the dive shop for rent but it may be limited in sizes and quantities especially during busy weeks. Non divers who signup for Discover Scuba Diving will be provided with all of their snorkel and SCUBA gear. Come see us for our recommendations.

Is anyone from the staff available to take video or pictures during the week that we can get access to?

We will have Staff available to shoot if you are interested and we charge a flat fee per day or per week or can put photos/videos up in our gallery for purchase or some combination of sorts. If you would like to get a good set of pics and video to document the experience, we can be hired to provide that for you.

How many divers are there on the boats?

The resort has three boats ranging from 12-20 divers. Our reservation has reserved a boat for our group

Is gratuity included on the dive boat?

Yes, gratuity is included for the captain and crew, but if you feel that they did an exceptional job, feel free to add more. We will typically tip additional at the end of the week for all dives that we have done.

What will we see diving?

There is a large variety of underwater life. You will dive up and down walls and around coral heads, through swim throughs and glide along the ocean floor with the drift of the current. You will see sea turtles, octopus, schools of fish, sharks, eels, rays, crabs, trumpet fish, angel fish, grouper, whale sharks, soft and hard coral and much more.

What specialties would be recommended for the trip? If we are interested in any specialty dives for night diving, advanced or drift specialty certification, how do we sign up?

This is a great time to get Nitrox, Drift Diving, Equipment, Photography, Deep or go for your Advanced Open Water Certification. Please let us know which you would like to pursue before the trip. If you are interested in more than one, there may be a special trip discount!!! A good pairing would be Nitrox and Equipment or Nitrox and Drift. We can cater to your preferences. You can sign up at Cozumel but we recommend any anticipated training programs be signed up in advance by calling (310) 456-2396 or send us an email at info@malibudivers.com. It helps to ensure you have the training materials in advance and our staff planning of our schedule for the week. Also, you must do a briefing (or home study) before you can do any advanced or specialty training. There are also special releases required. You need to be a certified diver from any legitimately recognized Training Agency at the equivalent levels. Please make sure to let us know what Training Agency and Level of Certification you currently hold.

Any online courses needed for Cozumel?

No! Any training that requires the completion of online courses must be done before coming to Cozumel. Remember to print your completion report and bring it to Cozumel. If you are interested in EANx, Enriched Air Nitrox, or a SCUBA Tuneup/Review or Digital Imaging Specialty, online training is a recommended option and you can signup with Malibu Divers directly by calling (310) 456-2396.

Do we register ahead of time to save spots or we can register when we get there?

Yes, please register ahead of time to save and pay for your spots to ensure we can plan our staff resources. If it is an especially busy week, we may not be able to guarantee your spot without pre-registration. When you arrive at Cozumel, we will arrange a time with you and your Malibu Divers Pro for a time when you are available.

Is there accident insurance included in the price of the trip? What is DAN dive insurance? Do I really need dive accident insurance? I have primary medical coverage. Where do we buy it? Can we buy from you?

Yes, there is DAN accident insurance provided for just the trip.DAN Dive Insurance is dive accident insurance. Some medical insurance policies do not cover accidents when they occur during diving. You can buy it online or you can buy it from Malibu Divers directly. You need to join DAN first as a member and then pick one of 3 plans available.Their annual insurance and membership are always recommended for divers diving locally and internationally. Malibu Divers can help you understand your options and sign you up for DAN over the phone or in the store.

Is the airline flight included?

No, the flight is not included, but Malibu Divers, is happy to arrange the flight travel if you need assistance. We will be communicating the flight that we the hosts will be traveling on and will try to get everyone that can fly at the same time on the same flight.

Are airport transfers included?

No, those of us on the same flight can share the short taxi ride to the resort and if you travel at a different time the taxis are right in front of the airport and cost $20 or so to bring you to the resort.

What food is included?

All food is included in the price of the trip. There are 8 restaurants on site and we also have access to the resort restaurants next door at the Sunscape Saber. Restaurants on site include Oceana (seafood), Windows (international), Market Cafe (Buffet), Goban (Japanese/sushi), Bordeaux (French cuisine), and the Barefoot Grill (BBQ and casual dining).

Are there any specialty dining options?

Yes, included in the trip package is a unique 3 course chef’s choice menu with semi-private service. We can do this as a group or individually.

Is there room service available?

Yes, there is 24 hour room and concierge service, pool and beach wait service, daily refreshed mini-bar, maid service and nightly entertainment.

Is alcohol included in the cost of the trip?

Yes, all alcohol is included in the cost of the trip including premium alcohol throughout the entire resort. This is at the restaurants, bars, rooms and beach side.

Are ground floor rooms available?

Yes, all swim-up rooms are on the ground floor, and there are several oceanview rooms on the ground floor as well.

Will I have help to bring my luggage to and from my room upon arrival?

Yes, there will be porters at the hotel that will bring your luggage to the room and fetch it back to the front of the resort on your last day.

Are there any additional room credits?

Yes, there is a $200 per room (or $100 pp) credit that can be used on additional activities around the resort, such as the spa.

What excursions will be available and do they cost extra?

The current excursions we are looking at are a day trip to the Cenotes, a day trip to dive with the bull sharks, a day trip to Chichen Itza (ruins), local snorkeling and a trip into town for shopping and food. All can be arranged easily depending on the groups desires. Not everyone needs to go on an excursion to make it happen. The cost is extra and we will discuss that as we see what the group desires.

Rooms are based on double occupancy, can I room as a single and is the price less than for two people?

Yes, you can room as a single and the price is less than for two people in the same room. Please ask for specific pricing for singles.

Is there wifi at the resort?

Yes there is free wifi throughout the entire resort.

What are the deposit deadlines for coming on the trip?

The initial deposit of $249 is due to hold your spot. By January 18th the second payment is due, which is half (50%) of the remaining balance of the trip. The final payment and the remaining balance will be due on or before March 1st. If you sign up after one of the deadlines passes, you will be responsible for the entire amount due up to that point.

Is there a discount for paying for the trip in cash?

Yes, we can offer a 2% discount if the trip is paid for entirely in cash.

Are all taxes and gratuities included in the price of the trip?

Yes all taxes and gratuities are included in the price of the trip, although you are always welcome to do more.
