DRYFOB - Waterproof Car Key Holder
The original DRYFOB® Waterproof Car Key Container keeps your electronic car key dry, even at depth. Perfect for scuba diving and all water sports.
DRYFOB® is a waterproof car key container suitable for scuba diving and other water sports. It fits all standard car key fobs, is neutrally buoyant with a key fob, and can sustain prolonged diving at depth. While primarily designed for shore diving, the waterproof case can work well for any activity where you want to protect your key from environmental hazards (water, humidity, mud, sand, etc.).
The DRYFOB car key container is machined out of a rugged aluminum alloy and anodized for additional strength and corrosion protection. Dual O-rings are used to provide a waterproof seal in the patented design.
All of the DRYFOB sizes have been IPx8 Rated to 1,200ft (365m). Note that this is not a product limitation, it is simply the maximum depth the lab could do the certification test to!
The rugged construction and materials will stand up to repeated and prolonged use (as well as getting tossed around in your dive bag). The aluminum case also acts as a signal blocking Faraday cage.

DRYFOB comes in multiple sizes
(1) The original DRYFOB car key container is designed to fit all standard car key FOBs. There are two attachment points that can accommodate a (not included) lanyard, bungee, ring, or clip. Prior to use
The DRYFOB case uses two lubed O-rings which form a watertight seal in the enclosure when the top is screwed onto the base and fully closed against the raised lip.
- Be sure to inspect the O-rings prior to each use to ensure that there are no signs of cracking or wear, and that no debris is present that can prevent a proper seal
- Make sure that both O-ring gaskets are installed
- Lube the O-rings periodically with the included lube when they appear dry or after saltwater exposure.
- Replace the O-rings if there are signs of wear
- It is particularly important to eliminate saltwater residue as it can degrade and damage the O-rings.
After each use
- Rinse your DRYFOB car key holder in freshwater after each use and air-dry or wipe it with a lint-free cloth. Be careful with the lubed O-rings, making sure no lint or debris sticks to them that can interfere with the seal.
- If you suspect saltwater exposure to the O-rings, remove them, wipe clean, and reapply some of the lube. Saltwater may degrade or damage them potentially leading to leaks, difficulty in opening or even seizing over time.
- When storing for an extended period: We recommend you keep the DRYFOB closed so as not to get any debris on the O-rings. It is suggested to store it 1/2 turn open. Close it all the way and then loosen it 1/2 turn.
- When travelling by air: While we have never had an issue taking DRYFOB in the cabin or the cargo hold, to avoid any chance of pressure differential that may make DRYFOB difficult to open at your destination, we recommend loosening the top 1/2 turn or removing the cap. Just be sure to clean and lube the O-rings before diving.
